How to put stickers on your Mac desktop
macOS has no sticker feature of its own, so you need an app. Sticktop puts stickers anywhere on your Mac's desktop: you can peel them, drag them and press them down, and they lift, curl and settle like real vinyl. Any image can become a die-cut sticker, with the background removed on your Mac and nothing uploaded. It runs on macOS 14 Sonoma or later and costs $4.99 once, through Polar or the Mac App Store.
Steps
- Get Sticktop. Buy it once for $4.99, either through Polar (Polar emails you a download link and a license key, which works on up to three Macs) or on the Mac App Store (no key needed). A purchase in one place does not unlock the other.
- Open it and enter your key. Sticktop lives in the menu bar. If you bought it from Polar, click its icon and choose Enter License, or go to Settings, General, License, and paste the key from your receipt email. The App Store version skips this step.
- Start with the included stickers, or make your own. Sticktop comes with the tōten sticker collection. To make your own, turn any image into a die-cut sticker: the background is removed on your Mac.
- Place them on the desktop. Drag stickers where you want them, peel them up and press them down again. Size, rotate and fade each one from the Sticktop window.
- Choose where they stay. Stickers work across every display and Space. Keep a sticker on one desktop, or have it follow you between them.
Good to know
- Your images never leave your Mac. Sticktop has no accounts and no tracking.
- Pick your own app icon and menu bar icon in the appearance settings.
- The Polar version updates itself and the App Store version updates through the App Store; new versions are included with your purchase either way.
