Where's my licence key?

(bought from our website) In the receipt email from Polar. Enter it in Ghostless ▸ Settings ▸ Licence. Everything except the coach works without one, and the coach can be tried on your own script first (the opening and about 20 scenes).

I'm moving to a new Mac.

On the old Mac, choose Settings ▸ Licence ▸ Deactivate on This Mac, then enter the key on the new one. From the Mac App Store: sign in with the same Apple Account and choose Settings ▸ The Coach ▸ Restore Purchase.

The coach says it couldn't confirm this copy was bought.

For a Mac App Store copy, make sure you're signed in to the App Store with the account that unlocked the coach, then choose Settings ▸ The Coach ▸ Restore Purchase. For a copy from our website, check the licence key in Settings ▸ Licence. If a refund was made, the key stops working.

The coach says it has read all it can for today.

Each copy has a daily share of readings; it picks up again the next day. Your writing isn't affected.

What does the coach send, and where?

See the privacy policy. In short: only with the coach on, the text of the scenes it reads goes to TypeSafe's Jev through Ghostless's server, which keeps none of it.

How do I get an earlier draft back?

File ▸ Snapshots… lists your saved snapshots and the copy kept at the start of each day you worked. Compare shows what changed; Restore puts one back (and Edit ▸ Undo takes that back). The Mac's own version history is in File ▸ Revert To ▸ Browse All Versions.

Which files does it open?

Fountain (.fountain) and plain text, and FDX (.fdx) or a script PDF through File ▸ Import Script. It exports PDF and FDX.

Requirements

macOS 14 Sonoma or later. The on-device explanations need a Mac with Apple Intelligence.

Is it free?

On the Mac App Store, Ghostless is free, and so is everything but the coach. The coach can be tried on your own script (the opening and about 20 scenes), then unlocked with a subscription, monthly or yearly, which you can cancel any time in the App Store's account settings. If you bought the coach before subscriptions began, it stays unlocked.

Cancelling and refunds

Cancel the subscription any time in the App Store, under your account's Subscriptions; the coach reads until the end of the period you paid for. Mac App Store purchases and subscriptions are refunded by Apple (reportaproblem.apple.com). Website purchases: reply to your Polar receipt.
