Penfont turns your handwriting into a font you can type with in Pages, Keynote, TextEdit, Figma and your other apps. Print the template, write each letter in its box and take a photo: Penfont does the rest.

Two ways in
The template is the thorough way: every letter has its box, so the font comes out complete. Penfont can also read pages you have already written, like notebook pages and letters. That is direct mode, and it is still in beta: it will miss letters your pages never used.

macOS 14 Sonoma or later, on Apple Silicon or Intel.
Licence and updates
Penfont asks for a licence key the first time you open it; there is no trial. One key works on up to 3 Macs and does not expire. The app updates itself, and new versions are included with your purchase.
Penfont is not on sale at the moment. Email me if you would like to know when it is.
Privacy
Your photos, pages and fonts stay on your Mac, and the handwriting is read on-device. There are no accounts, no analytics and no tracking. Full details are in the privacy policy.
Purchase and download
Penfont is not on sale at the moment, so there is nothing to buy here yet. When it is, payment will be handled by Polar, which acts as the reseller and takes care of sales tax, and your download link and licence key arrive by email.

- What does Penfont do?
- Penfont turns your handwriting into a font you can type with in Pages, Keynote, TextEdit, Figma and your other apps. You print a template, write each letter in its box and photograph it; Penfont builds the font from that.
- Do I have to use the template?
- No. Penfont can also read pages you have already written, such as notebook pages and letters. That is called direct mode and it is still in beta, so the template gives the most complete font.
- Which Macs does Penfont run on?

- How much does Penfont cost?
- Penfont is not on sale at the moment. When it is, it will be a one-time purchase through Polar, with no subscription.
- Can I use Penfont on more than one Mac?

- Penfont asks for the key the first time you open it. The key is in your Polar receipt email, and in Polar’s customer portal.

- No. Photos, pages and fonts stay on your Mac, and the handwriting is read by Apple's on-device Vision framework. Penfont has no accounts and no tracking.
